MALE Versus FEMALE?

Many people ask me, "which gender makes the better pet?"

The answer is simple. It doesn't matter which gender you get, but the type of personality you are looking for in a pet.

People tend to think that males are more aggressive than females, mark their territory everywhere which can ruin expensive furniture, carpet, etc. And that females are more protective of their family, more snuggly, and therefore make a better pet.

Then there's some people who see that since there's barely any females for sale, and a ton of males, then obviously females are the best pet to get, and something must be wrong with males to make them less desirable.

There's a problem that comes with each gender. The female you have to worry about her going into season and you end up getting an un-wanted litter of puppies, and the male sometimes marks his territory (though I have had males never mark anywhere).

The answer again, is simple. If you don't want to breed, or have unwanted puppies with either pet, have them spayed and neutered. The problem about each gender is then solved.

The female doesn't have a better personality then the male just because she's a female, and the male doesn't have an aggressive nature just because he's a male. Each puppy has their own personality, male or female. Sometimes I have a male who is sweeter then one of my girls, sometimes I have a female sweeter then my male. It just depends on the personality, just like humans. You have these rough and tumble sort of men and women, then you have the more "Marshmallow-type", sweet men, and more sensitive, sweet women.  Not all men are aggressive, as I'm sure many of you know. And, of course, not all women are sensitive and feminine.

Each puppy, like children and adults, have their little quirks and personalities, and each are unique in their own special little way.

So, the question is...What type of a personality are you looking for in a puppy?
